New Driver Lessons
For anyone new to driving, it can be an exciting, daunting and expensive time. Here's how we can help. At Absolute Driver Training, our instructor is very experienced with over 15 years of teaching under his belt. He has an extensive knowledge of the area having grown up in North Devon. Motorway Mastery
Freedom is one of the most exciting elements of holding a driving licence, no having to wait for public transport or a parent or friend to give you a lift. If you want to travel long distance then motorways are likely to be involved. Absolute Driver Training strongly advise a one day 'Motorway Mastery' course once you have passed your test. This will build on your established driving skills and give you confidence to explore further afield safely.
Show Me, Tell Me Questions
During your driving test, the examiner will ask you a 'tell me' question and a 'show me' question.
Before you start driving, you will be asked to explain how you would carry out a safety task - this is a 'tell me' question.
While you are driving, you will be asked to show how you would carry out a safety task - this is a 'show me' question.
Refresher lessons
Are you a nervous driver? Spiral roundabouts stressing you out? Theory Training
As a student with Absolute Driver Training, you will receive FREE access to 'Theory Test Pro' in order to help you with your theory test. Often, studying alone with the support of these quality resources is enough, however, sometimes one-to-one, face-to-face support is helpful. You may wish David to go through the theory test alongside you or perhaps you just want to book a 30-minute question-and-answer session. Whatever your needs, we are here to help.
'Theory Test Pro' is an online simulation of the driving theory test. It helps you learn everything you need to pass your test, plus it informs both you and David of your progress and helps to identify your strengths and areas for further development.
Pass Plus
Pass Plus is a practical training course that takes at least 6 hours and is for drivers to improve their skills and drive more safely. It can be taken at any time, although it is most useful to new drivers in the year after passing their test.
You’ll need a Pass Plus registered, approved driving instructor (ADI), like our instructor, David, to teach you.
Intensive Courses
Intensive courses can range from a daily two-hour lesson or several hours per day with breaks between sessions. Frequency and duration of lessons would depend on individual needs and driving experience.
Practical Driving Test
The test lasts around 40 minutes, but before driving you will be asked to complete an eyesight check to make sure you can read a number plate from 20 metres away. The test makes sure you can drive confidently and safely in different road and traffic conditions, and that you know The Highway Code, demonstrating this by the way you drive. You can take the test in our car or your own; it is advisable to take a car you are familiar with and confident in driving.
If you do wish to take our car and have your instructor with you before and after the test (if you request it he can also sit in on the test), please book a two-hour lesson. This allows for a short lesson and any questions you may have before the test, to use the car for the duration of the test and for our instructor to drive you home.
